My book review this month is not something that will help you along spiritually, at least I don't think it will. But it will help to bring compassion and understanding.
Three Little Words was written by Ashley Rhodes-Courter. She was taken from her mother by the Department of Children and Family Services in Florida when she was 3 and 1/2 years old. The book follows her through he days in the Florida foster care system and into her adoption.
The things that this poor child went through are unimaginable even for an adult. That's the part that should bring compassion to the heart of anyone who reads this book! There is no reason why a child who is hurting should have to endure more suffering from those who are meant to care for and protect them- whether it's physical, psychological, or emotional pain.
The most important part of this book, in my opinion, is where she tells what she was feeling and thinking. That's the part of the book that should bring understanding! Many times we forget that a child doesn't have the information that we have as adults. We ignore the fact that their little minds don't comprehend things as we do. What we do out of hate, ignorance, and even love can be viewed in a very different manner by them.
This book will help anyone who is in a field where they care for children. It is especially recommended for foster parents and those who are thinking of adopting.
