Sometimes the devil doesn't tempt us with evil; sometimes he allures us with good, distracts us with obligations, confuses us with compromise, or hinders us with business to keep us from that which is best- service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, the devil always offers his best, before Christ will offer His will for your life.

Evolution

There is a theory being spread throughout the world today called "Evolution". This theory states that there is no God; People came about by a cosmic accident that happened millions or billions of years ago and have been evolving into the species they are now.
Schools teach this theory as a fact. Children are taught that they are related to animals. Teachers and Media mock those who believe in Creation. What is the end of this?
Somewhere, there is a child learning that billions of years ago, something collided with something else, which started a chain reaction that led to slime growing into an animal. As time passed, this animal began to walk, think, talk, and eventually became what we call the human. This child will be led to believe that there is evidence that proves that this theory has happened and this knowledge will determine the course of his life.
Dr. George Wald of Harvard: “When it comes to the origin of life, we have only two possibilities as to how life arose. One is spontaneous generation arising to evolution; the other is a supernatural creative act of God. There is no third possibility…Spontaneous generation was scientifically disproved one hundred years ago by Louis Pasteur, Spellanzani, Reddy and others. That leads us scientifically to only one possible conclusion — that life arose as a supernatural creative act of God…I will not accept that philosophically because I do not want to believe in God. Therefore, I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.” – Scientific American, August, 1954

Why doesn't he want to believe in God? What is wrong with creation?
Genesis 1:1- In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
In the Common Man's Reference Bible, David Hoffman says, "The first four words of the Bible debunk the religions and philosophies of man. Atheism is for educated fools (Psalms 14:1). Polytheism is null and void. Evolution is a fairy tale for vain intellectuals (Romans 1:20-23). Unitarianism and pantheism are exposed because God and heaven are separated. Greek philosophy also perishes in the light of the beginning of the earth (Colossians 2:8). Existentialism and fatalism fade away because the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient Godhead worked together in this creative act (Colossians 1:15-18; Hebrews 11:1-3).
Jesus Christ taught creationism (Mark 13:19). Any rational and scientific mind can reason with only four possibilities for the earth's existence. The four choices are the earth is eternal naturally, the earth naturally created itself, an outside and intelligent Being created the earth, or the earth is not really here because it is imaginary. Honest and true science disproves the first two possibilities by the first two laws of thermodynamics. Nothing creates itself naturally and everything with time degenerates toward less energy, more chaos, confusion, destruction, and eventually death. Mother Nature left to her pagan self ends up in hell (James 3:6)."
It's a very simple concept. But let me point out what the evolutionists don't like.
I Samuel 2:10- The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
John 14:6- Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The problem is that they can't do things their way. They can't live their lives how they want to. They don't want to be judged according to any standard but the one they set!
Back to the little boy who is being taught evolution- He will grow up thinking that his life really doesn't matter. Life is not a precious thing that should be treasured. Each person is really just another rung on the ladder of evolution, so it really doesn't matter if they live or die.
Why do you think there is so much killing, especially by young people? They don't value life because evolution teaches that life has no value!
What does the Bible teach?
Romans 13:9- For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Micah 6:8- He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
God wants us to treat people fairly. To be kind and just. To value life. Christ himself gave us the example-
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? - John 15:13 and Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. -I John 3:16.
So, here's the real problem- Either there is a God or there isn't. And as you can see, both conclusions are rather scary!

Healthy Minute- Melatonin

Sleep is very important for the body! You need a certain amount of sleep each night to keep your body functioning at the proper levels.
When sleep is hard to come by, I've found that melatonin can help. Melatonin is a hormone created by the body that controls your sleep cycle. It normally begins production late in the evening and ends in the morning. It is also one of the hormones that decrease production with age.
Melatonin is found in small amounts in different foods- vegetables, grains, and some meats. The best supplement that I've found is  put out by Source Naturals called NutraSpray Melatonin. It's a liquid form, but you can also find it in pill form.
A word of caution: if you take melatonin every night your body will stop producing it and you'll become dependent on supplemental forms. If you take the supplements, limit them to only 3 to 5 days a week. That way your body will still produce it's own.
For more information on Melatonin and it's function in the body, watch the video below:

Life's Greatest Moments book review

Do you ever feel like living the Christian life is boring? If you think that serving Christ would be the dullest experience ever you need to read this book.
Life's Greatest Moments is written by Jim White. This dearly departed evangelist went through some pretty hilarious adventures! If anything could have gone wrong it did for this man.
This book will take you around the world and show you the unexpected experiences that an evangelist can encounter. It's not a book of complaints on how the Lord has dealt with him, but rather a humorous account of how God can use the not-so-savory things in life to bring a smile and a blessing to those around you (maybe even long after the dust has settled!).
Life's Greatest Moments can be purchased at Amazon or the Bible Baptist Bookstore. You can also watch some of the accounts on YouTube.

Believer's Heritage- Conversion Of The Moi

Over in Vietnam, there are a people who live in the Central Highlands. They are called the Moi by the Vietnamese, which means savages.
The moi were once a large population of over 3 million people. But because of war, colonization, and fear, their numbers have dwindled to a few hundred thousand.
The moi live a very simple, and uncultured (or uncivilized) life in the mountains. They have no technology. They hunt for their food, and they live by their own code of ethics. They fear the Spirits, and live and die trying to appease them.
The video below is the story of Awayo, a Moi man. He will tell of the conversion of the Moi in his own words.

God bless those who had the courage and the resolve to follow God's will and leave their families for years to tell these people about the Lord!

Funny Happenings- That's Not Snow

If you read my last Funny Happenings blog post, you will remember that I said that Southern Louisiana people don't know much about Northern winters. Our experience with snow doesn't extend to scraping it off our cars or shoveling it off the sidewalks. In fact, most of the time when we have snow there's barely enough to make a 1 foot snowman, and it is usually completely melted by the end of the day!
So, when we heard that City Park in New Orleans was going to have a machine that would blow snow out for the children to play in, we packed our kids in the car and headed over to let our youngsters enjoy the icy wonder.
After about an hour in line, we were finally up and in the snow. The dainty, white flakes were flitting around us and my two daughters reached down to grab a handful of what we had been talking about for almost 2 hours!
The youngest grabbed a big scoop, and making a face, dropped it and went to sit down on the nearest bench. I was very puzzled as I walked over to her, "Don't you like the snow?"
She looked at me and very angrily said, "That's not snow! I saw snow in the mall and it was soft and warm and fluffy!"

The God Who Hurts (video sermon)

I was raised in a Bible believing Baptist home. As such, I really never thought about certain things the way people in Christ's time would view them. Our Savior is different from any other god out there. He is the only worshiped Spirit that I know of that gave His life for those who worship Him. He's the only God who can take a horrible thing like the cross and turn it into a beautiful symbol of love. He's the only Almighty Being who has not only felt what we felt, but has been touched by the pain that we feel and understands the trials that we face. I am amazed that I worship an Eternal Creator that would humble Himself enough to take the time to listen to, guide, and help me even when I am the one who brings Him pain!

The Legacy

She could not give her children gold,
So she gave them faith to have and hold.

She could not give them royal birth...
A name renowned throughout the earth.
But she gave them seeds and garden spot
And shade trees when the sun was hot.

She could not give a silver spoon
Or servants waiting night and noon.
She gave them love and a listening ear
And told them God was always near.

She could not give them ocean trips
Aboard majestic sailing ships.
But she gave them books and quiet time,
Adventures found in prose and rhyme.

She could not give them worldly things
But what she gave was fit for kings.
For with her faith and books and sod,
She made each child aware of God.

Spiritual Hypocrisy

One of the things plaguing the church today is spiritual hypocrisy. People who want to appear spiritual, when in fact they are not. And these people go through great lengths to acquire the illusion of "Spirituality". They hang around the right people at church, they watch their speech among the christians, they even dress to give the impression of holiness. When they go home, all that changes. Out comes the worldly music, their speech goes along with the world, and their clothes are out of some fashion magazine that would make Paul blush!
What does God think of this spiritual hypocrisy?
Acts 5:1-2- But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
So, this man and his wife sold some property. Then, to appear spiritual, they told the apostles that they were giving all that they had made to the church. Boy, they looked spiritual!
But they didn't intend on anyone knowing what they were doing. God knew. God always knows.
Acts 5:3-4- But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
This whole time they wanted to illusion to make them appear spiritual. But the real illusion was that they could hide what they were doing from God. God sees all! And he was going to use them as an example.
Acts 5:5- And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
This all happened while the wife was elsewhere. You know, God doesn't pull punches. She was in on the deceit and so she's in on the judgement. She comes in and tries to act all spiritual!
Acts 5:7-8- And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
Do you ever notice that even though God knows the answer He still asks? I believe that's to give us time to confess and forsake! He asked Adam and Eve if they'd eaten the fruit. He asked Cain where Abel was. He gives us ample opportunity to make things right! But the spiritual hypocrite will always lie or blame to keep up the appearance, because that's what important to them- not true holiness, but the illusion of holiness. Guess what?
Acts 5:9-10- Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
These people lost thier lives because they wanted to look spiritual. What are the consequences today?
Malachi 3:6- For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
We seem to think that because thousands of years have passed and the world has changed so much that God must have changed, too. We are mistaken! God never changes. The same 10 commandments He gave Moses are the same laws He expects us to try to obey (not for salvation, for reputation and continued fellowship). All through the New Testament, Paul says not to steal, not to kill, not to covet, don't commit fornication or adultery, etc.
Numbers 14:18- The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Did you realize that your kids learn from you? When you sin, they learn to sin! When you deceive, they learn to deceive! They know if you're truly spiritual. You may be able to fool the pastor, but you can't fool your kids! And the consequences of being a spiritual hypocrite are the broken hearts of many parents.
I Corinthians 15:33- Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Galatians 6:7- Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
