Sometimes the devil doesn't tempt us with evil; sometimes he allures us with good, distracts us with obligations, confuses us with compromise, or hinders us with business to keep us from that which is best- service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, the devil always offers his best, before Christ will offer His will for your life.

You Are What You Wear

A Christian is suppose to be Christ's representative on earth. Paul said we were His ambassadors! A Christian should not only witness with their mouths, but  with their clothes.
Romans 12:1-2- I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We have to live in this world, and most of us get our clothes from stores that are run by the world. There are ever changing styles and most of them are not modest!
So, when looking for Christian clothes, what should we keep in mind?
First, God is interested in what we wear.
Zephaniah 1:8- And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
The first thing people notice about you are your clothes. They say a lot.
A man in a blue or grey uniform is a policeman. A normal citizen on the street should not be wearing that uniform if he doesn't want bothered with people in need of help.
All specialized service units have uniforms- military, police, firemen, and others all have a certain outfits that tells others who they are at a glance. Even prisoners wear certain clothing to identify themselves!
If you want to look like a Christian, there are certain things you need to avoid. If you have to constantly pull your tank top up, tug down on your shirt, or hike up your pants you probably aren't wearing Christianity.
I Know that there are not a lot of clothes meant to fit a Christian. But, if necessary, wear a belt. Put on another shirt, or layer your shirts. There are things you can do.
Another things to bear in mind is function. This is where the call to appropriateness comes in.
I Timothy 2:9- In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
Skiing or mountain climbing is not the place for a skirt! And you don't want to wear your best Sunday suit to mow the grass.
Being modest and dressing like a Christian means there are times for church clothes and times for work clothes. Each outfit should be modest for the job or place that you will be.
And lastly, I think we should talk about the cost.
I Peter 3:3- Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
There is a balance between budget and faith. You don't really have to spend $50 on those pants to look like a Christian! We are not beggars, but we do not need to be spending money needlessly.
Remember, you are a child and representative of the Most High God! Wear it. Walk it. And talk it!
