II Timothy 1:13- Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
In this text we are admonished to hold fast the form of sound words. If you read the Bible, you find that words are very important to God. Matthew 12:37- For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
We live in an age of unsound words, unsound minds, unsound doctrines, unsound professions of salvation, and unsound bible versions. Most modern day Christians talk like the world, chiefly because their bibles talk like the world. The language has been dumbed down. They are babbling idiots. Romans 1:22- Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
At least 90% of the TV and radio preachers today have rid themselves of biblical vocabulary and have substituted expressions such as "Let Christ come into your life", "Have an encounter with Christ", etc. and as a result they have substituted the new age terminology of rank humanism for Biblical Christianity. These things are referred to in the New Testament:
II Peter 2:23- And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgement now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Ephesians 5:6- Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Romans 16:18- For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
I thought that I would assemble a list of words used in the Bible to define and describe the various aspects of salvation. You may hear these words occasionally out in the world, but they came from the Bible. One of the many ways that you can tell that modern Christianity has gone to pot is the absence of these words from their vocabulary. Proverbs 15:4- A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
1) Repentance- a change of mind or turning from sin to God
This is proceeded with illumination from the Scriptures, conviction of sin, and a realization of condemnation.
Verses: II Peter 3:9, Mark 2:17, Psalm 119:59, I Thessalonians 1:9
2) Faith- the deep settled assuring belief that God will do exactly as He promised to do in His Word

4)Salvation- the great deliverance from the guilt, pollution, and penalty of sin
Verses: Romans 1:16, Ephesians 1:13, I Peter 1:9, Acts 4:12
When the Bible speaks of salvation or damnation, we must observe the context to determine if it is a reference to eternal salvation from sin or temporal salvation from a circumstance or consequence- I Timothy 2:15, I Corinthians 11:29.
5) Regeneration- new birth
Verses: Titus 3:5, John 3:6-7, John 1:12-13, I Peter 1:23, I John 3:9, I John 5:18
Now those are the basics, but we find the bible gives us a terminology which goes into further details concerning conversion to Jesus Christ...
6) Adoption- a judicial act whereby a saved sinner is declared to be a member of God's family
Verses: Romans 8:15, Galatians 3:26, Galatians 4:4-5, Ephesians 1:4-6

10) Ransom- the price paid for redemption

14) Atonement- satisfaction or reparation made by giving an equivalent for an injury, or by doing or suffering that which is received in satisfaction for an offense or injury
The action appears in the OT 69 times, but only once in the NT.
Verses: Romans 5:10-11, Ephesians 1:10, Ephesians 2:11-18, Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:15, John 17:11, John 17:21-23, Romans 6:4-8, II Corinthians 6:1, II Corinthians 13:4, Colossians 2:12-13, Colossians 3:4, I Thessalonians 5:10, II Timothy 2:11-12

Verses: II Corinthians 1:9-10, I Thessalonians 5:23
What we have heard here is biblical language.
I Corinthians 1:17- For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
I Corinthians 2:4- And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
See if you can pick up the words used in this passage:
Romans 3:20-28- Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be the propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Zephaniah 3:9- For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
-Adam Trosclair
I'm a King James Bible believing sinner saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ! I was raised by a good mother and I went to a KJV church growing up. I am a mother of 5 lovely children and am married to a crazy Cajun for 20 years now! I think bow ties are cool, and grey hairs are like tinsle for your head. I admire those who do right no matter the cost, and wish to avoid those who would compromise the truth.
Sometimes the devil doesn't tempt us with evil; sometimes he allures us with good, distracts us with obligations, confuses us with compromise, or hinders us with business to keep us from that which is best- service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, the devil always offers his best, before Christ will offer His will for your life.
