Sometimes the devil doesn't tempt us with evil; sometimes he allures us with good, distracts us with obligations, confuses us with compromise, or hinders us with business to keep us from that which is best- service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, the devil always offers his best, before Christ will offer His will for your life.

The Power Of A Praying Wife (book review)

After we hit our 16th Anniversary, I looked back over the years and wondered how it came to pass that our marriage has lasted. We still both love each other, and we like to be around each other! Those are very rare things in today's world.
My husband jokingly tells our children that we are still together because neither of us want to deal with them on our own.
But, seriously. I don't think it was my patience, or his good sense of humor, it wasn't even our ability to compromise. I think it was through standing for the truth no matter the cost and prayer.
Standing for the truth is impossible if your prayer life is not right. Prayer is what gives us the ability to go on when our strength has failed. It gives us the grace to sit in the room with the people we can't stand and still smile and act gracious. It puts a song on our lips even when there are tears in our eyes.
When our prayer life falters, so does our judgement. We hang out with the wrong people, make the wrong decisions, and end up paying for consequences that we would have never had to face.
Stormie Omartian has written a very good book on prayer. For women it's The Power Of A Praying Wife and for men it's The Power Of A Praying Husband. Guess which one I'll be reviewing.
First off, this book doesn't use the KJV, so I recommend that you look up the verses.
This book is broken down into a 30 day format which offers advice about how and what to pray for your husband. I've always asked for him to have strength, wisdom, and patience. But there are more compelling things to pray for your husband about- like his friends, desires, etc.
This book gives the wife a chance to focus on her husband and pray for areas that he needs help in. I guarantee you that in doing so you will come to love your husband more, and you will come to love God more!
