Sometimes the devil doesn't tempt us with evil; sometimes he allures us with good, distracts us with obligations, confuses us with compromise, or hinders us with business to keep us from that which is best- service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, the devil always offers his best, before Christ will offer His will for your life.

It Was Good

Genesis 1:31- And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
When God created the world, he said "It was good". At the end of the 6 days, everything that he created was good. A lot of people say that the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was wicked. But, God created it. He said it was good. So, where is the evil?
The fruit wasn't evil. The knowledge it contained wasn't necessarily evil. The evil was in the taking of the fruit. God had a purpose for that fruit. Maybe God wanted Adam and Eve to have that knowledge. It is possible that fruit was put there for the furtherance of their education.
God had a time for that fruit. Adam and Eve had to learn to obey. They had to grow in responsibility before they could hand the knowledge that the fruit held.
But, Adam and Eve chose their way above God's way. Eve chose her own desires above God's will. And Adam chose a woman above God's will. Both were cursed for their choice.
Sometimes, we go after thing because they're good. We don't understand that maybe it's not time for us to have this good. Maybe there's another purpose for that good. And, just like Adam and Eve, we will fall by "good" because we wanted it our way.
Matthew 6:33- But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Our ways aren't God's ways. Our thoughts aren't God's thoughts. And our time isn't God's time.
We are to seek his way, his righteousness, first, and then all these things are added.
Any thing you put before God is a curse you place on yourself. David chose a woman; Achan chose possessions; Balaam chose a job. None of those choices ended well.
You may say "I read my Bible and pray when my choice isn't around " or "I witness when I'm not around my choice ". God is a jealous God. He wants to be first, and he's not going to be pacified with your leftovers.
The good things come after serving God and seeking his will. Many times we occupy our time with acquiring the good things- the things in themselves aren't bad, but the way we get them is!
