Sometimes the devil doesn't tempt us with evil; sometimes he allures us with good, distracts us with obligations, confuses us with compromise, or hinders us with business to keep us from that which is best- service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, the devil always offers his best, before Christ will offer His will for your life.

The Fall: Part 1

Genesis 1:31a- And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.
Genesis 2:1- Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
When God made the world He made everything good. There were no thorns, no stings, no poisons, nothing harmful. It was all good! Did you know that the devil was good once? He was! He was a special type of angel called a Cherub. And he was called by a different name. Do you know what it was? Lucifer. That means light bearer. The devil was a good, and beautiful angel that God created.
Ezekiel 28:14- Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
The devil was created perfect. But, what happened? Pride, the first sin.
Ezekiel 28:13- Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
God made Lucifer to be beautiful! He was covered with all sorts of gems. And, he had an amazing ability to sing! God made something inside of him like an organ to make beautiful music. He was suppose to praise God. But that didn't happen. He got to admiring himself and thinking how beautiful he was. He thought that because he was so lovely he must be better than God. And that's when he began to sin.
Isaiah 14:12-14 -How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
The devil's pride made him want to be God. He thought he could do a better job. But God wasn't going to allow him to take over. God had to punish him and so, he cast him out of heaven. But he wasn't alone.
Did you know that sin always effects other people? It doesn't just ruin you, it ruins those around you. You see, the devil wasn't the only one who sinned. There were other angels that followed him and sinned, too.
Revelation 12:9- And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
God has to punish sin. So, he created a place for sin to go. When he created this place, it was for the ones who sinned- the devil and his angels. Do you know what that place is called?
Matthew 25:41- Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
When God created the Lake of Fire, it was for the devil. God didn't want people to go there. He only wanted sin to go there. And that is what it was created for- sin. All sin is to go to the Lake of Fire. But, God didn't send the devil there first. He cast the devil somewhere else first.
Ezekiel 28:16-17- By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
The devil came to earth. He decided to reign like a king on the earth. But something happened that he didn't like. God created humans and gave them rule over the earth.
Psalm 8:3-8- When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
Boy, was the devil mad! He wanted to rule the earth. So you know what he did? He decided to ruin the perfect world that God created. He decided to bring sin to mankind.
He was going to make Adam and Eve sin. Once they sinned, he could take rule of the earth again.
